Memorial Day, which is the day set apart to honor the men and women who died while serving in the American military, always falls on the last Monday of May. Originally known as Decoration Day, began years after the Civil War. Americans observe “Memorial Day” by visiting cemeteries or memorials and holding family gatherings as well as participating in parades. It became a federal holiday in 1971 and in their memory of their lives the National Cemetery is decorated. On May 5, 1868, General John A. Logan declared in General Order No. 11 that:

Arrival of Achens
All praises to God that all achens for the parishes in USA for the year 2010 have arrived. The process is going on for one of our achens to Canada and three of our achens to Europe to arrive and join the parishes. The Diocese of North America and Europe thank God and all concerned for helping in the processing of Visa and Travel. We wish God’s blessings upon achens and their family members.
Diocesan Assembly 2010
Today, we have gathered in this august meeting of our Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of North America and Europe here at Atlanta MTC. We have come here representing the various parishes in Europe, Canada, and United States of America. As clergy and laity, we are now in the presence of God who blesses us and strengthens us for the ministry. The Holy Bible reminds us in Psalms 95:7 that, “… For He is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the people under his care.”

The dedication and thanksgiving service of the 8th Mar Thoma Parish in the United Kingdom took place at St. George’s Church, Headstone on 18th April 2010 in the presence of The Most Revd Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan, The Rt. Revd Dr. Juhanon Fenwick of the Free Church of England and many visiting clergy from the Mar Thoma Church, Church of England, and other sister Churches.

The meeting of the Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of North America & Europe was held on April 17, 2010 at the Atlanta Mar Thoma Church, 755 Rays Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30083. The Diocesan Episcopa, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius chaired the meeting, which began at 9:00 AM.
Rev. Binu Varghese, Seattle MTC, led the opening worship along with Mrs. Aswathi Mathew and Mr. Thomas Abraham. The Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, introduced and welcomed Rev. Dr. Michael Kinnamon, the General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ USA.
