As we enter into 2012, I wish you all a happy and blessed New Year. The celebration of Christmas reminded that God is with us always. It has become the practice of so many worshiping communities to gather for a time of retreat and worship as we enter into the threshold of a new year. For so many people New Year is a time to make promises and resolutions which they intend to keep throughout the New Year and all the days of their lives.

We are publishing this October issue of the Mar Thoma Messenger after a series of conferences in our Diocese since the first week of July 2010. There will be a few more conferences in the month of October. The Family Conference 2011 will be at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. What are these conferences for? These are not simply celebrations, but occasions where members of the Church come together to sit at the feet of Jesus, to be spiritually nourished and renewed in life.

I am delighted that Chalanam, the publication of the Mar Thoma Theleological Seminary in Kottayam, is publishing a new edition to coincide with the 175^th anniversary of the reformation within the Malankara Mar Thoma Church. I am also happy that the staff and students of the seminary have decided to publish this edition with the title Reformation: An Invitation For Sacramental Living. I wish the publication all success and pray that it will prove to be a blessing to all the members of the church and friends of the seminary.

It is my great privilege to address this April meeting of the Diocesan Assembly here at Philadelphia. I am glad that all of you have come from the length and breadth of the Diocese of North America and Europe to participate in the deliberations. God in His great wisdom has chosen me through the Mar Thoma Church as the third resident Diocesan Episcopa from Jan 2009.
