Ecumenical Christmas Celebration, Philadelphia

The Ecumenical Fellowship of Indian Churches in Philadelphia celebrated Christmas at the George Washington High School, Northeast Avenue on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 3 p. m. This was also an occasion for the fellowship to thank God for its growth and ministry for the last 25 years in the city of brotherly love.

A clergy – family meeting of Europe region was held at Buckfast Abbey, Devon under the leadership of our Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese mar Theodosius Episcopa from August 22 to 23, 2011. Rev. Eapen Abrahm led devotion based on 1 Chronicle 29:1-9 on the opening day. Achen initiated the discussion on the mentoring role of the Priests by comparing David's mentoring role in the life of Solomon. Rev. Abraham Mathew presented a paper on the subject ‘Relevant ministry in UK and Europe'.

Dallas Farmers Branch Mar Thoma Church became the venue for the Kassesssa ordination of one of the two persons chosen by God from the Diocese of North America and Europe to become the clergy of the Mar Thoma Church. Rev. Dn. Alex G. Kolath was the first fruit of this parish which through the ordination service started the spiritual journey to fulfill His purpose and participate in the establishment of the Kingdom of God. Rev. Alex G. Kolath is the son of Mr. George Kolath and Mrs. (Late) Mary Kolath.The Kassissa ordination took place on Saturday, 30th July 2011.

Trinity Mar Thoma Church, Houston was established in 1974. His Grace Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Athanasius Suffragan Metropolitan conducted a prayer meeting at Houston in April 1974 with 10 families and that was the humble beginning of Trinity Mar Thoma parish, Houston. By the grace of God the Parish could complete 37 successful years as a worshipping community in this part of the world under the providence of God Almighty and we are indeed grateful to God for His abundant blessings , guidance and protection.

The formal inauguration of the Immanuel Mar Thoma Church, Virginia took place on Sunday, December 26, 2010 in a public meeting held at the Community Lutheran Church in Sterling, VA. Prior to the public function there was a Holy Qurbana Service in which all members participated. The parish choir participated and helped in the service.

The 6th National Edavaka Mission Conference was held from July 31st to August 2nd, 2009 at the National Christian Conference Center, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, USA. The theme was selected from Micah 6: 8 “Walk humbly with your God”. Over 60 participants from various Mar Thoma Churches in North America attended the conference.

The first Youth Chaplains’ workshop of the Diocese was inaugurated at Immanuel Mar Thoma Church, Houston on 7th July, 2009. And the rest of the sessions were held at trinity till the afternoon of July 8, 2009. Evening worship was led by Rev. Jaisen A. Thomas and Rev. Biju P. Simon and devotion led by Rev. Varghese Mathew, Youth Chaplain, Chicago.

Mar Theodosius met with the LEAD program convenor Ms. Betty Vattakunnel and discuss the need to evaluate the program Phase I. The possibility of creating the CDs for power point presentation was discussed. The Diocesan Episcopa suggested that LEAD program should consider organizing training program for the volunteers interested in mission work,

The Clergy Conference of the Delhi and Mumbai Dioceses was held from 4^th to 7^th March 2008 at Sihora Christa Panthi Ashram. The Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas and Rev. Dr. K. G. Pothen were the main leaders of the Conference. The theme of the Conference was “Liturgical Practices and Faith formation in our time”. 87 Achens from the two Dioceses participated in this conference.
