IX Southeast Regional Mar Thoma Youth Conference

This year, the IX Southeast Regional Mar Thoma Youth Conference was held at the Calvin Center-Conference, Retreat, and Camping Center in Hampton, GA from Thursday July 22nd to Sunday July 25th, 2010. There were 100 delegates who participated in the conference from the states of Georgia and Florida. The age groups of the delegates were ages between 12 and 34. The Hermon Mar Thoma Church of Atlanta, Georgia hosted this year's conference. Many eminent speakers led the various sessions for the conference. This year's theme was, “Heart of a Champion” based on the book of 1Samuel 16:7.

By God's Grace 31^st Mar Thoma National Conference is convened at Cabrini Retreat Centre, Chicago from July 22^nd – July 25^th 2010. Conference is hosted by Frankfort, Bethel Mar Thoma Church IL and very strongly supported by all the parishes of the Midwest Region. Dr. Eugene M. Sadhu served as the conference convener. We are living in a world where our identity as a Christian believer and as Marthomite is always questioned and always on trial and rigorous testing by the different forces of the community.

The Mar Thoma Voluntary Evangelists Association under the Diocese of North America and Europe held its 7^th National Edavaka Mission Conference from July 23^rd to July 25^th, 2010 at the National Christian Conference Center, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, USA. This conference and retreat was hosted by the Eastern Zone of the MTVEA in the Diocese.

Region Sunday Schools at Ramapo, New Jersey 2010

This year, the combined Junior and Senior Students conference of the North East and South East Region was held at the Ramapo College, New Jersey from Thursday July 15^th to Sunday July 18^th,2010. There were 320 delegates participated in the conference, 293 Sunday school students and 27 chaperones from the tri- State area such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. The age groups of the delegates were grades between 6^th to 12^th.

The Diocese of North America and Europe had the joy of felicitating His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan on his 80^th birthday.

A reception was organized at the Sinai Mar Thoma Center on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 7pm. The Diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius presided over the meeting which was attended by approximately 100 members of the Diocese including clergy, diocesan office bearers, Council, Assembly, Mandalam members and friends.

APDM Conference 2010

The conference was inaugurated by the Diocesan Episcopa by calling the delegates to identify with God's interest in the people.

The theme was “Abundant Life” and the key verse was John 10:10. Mar Theodosius Episcopa reminded everyone that “Healing is a gift of God” and all are called to participate with God with responsibility.

Father’s Day Celebration

The year 2010 is the centenary year of father’s day celebration. The first father’s day is believed to have been held on June19, 1910 through the efforts of Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington. After listening to a Church sermon about the newly recognized Mother’s day in 1909, Dodd felt strongly that fatherhood needed recognition as well. Father’s Day is a day honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society. It is celebrated this year on the Third Sunday in June (June 20, 2010).

As the nation celebrated mother’s day on May 9, the Mar Thoma Diocese of North America and Europe celebrated it through the parishes after the worship services. The Diocese gave the message through the website. The clergy greeted mothers in the church. The Children sang songs, spoke the message and gave flowers and gifts to mothers. The Diocesan Episcopa greeted the mothers at Staten Island Mar Thoma Parish New York and Chattanooga Mar Thoma Congregation Tennessee.

6th National Edavaka Mission Conference 2009

The 6th National Edavaka Mission Conference was held from July 31st to August 2nd, 2009 at the National Christian Conference Center, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, USA. The theme was selected from Micah 6: 8 “Walk humbly with your God”. Over 60 participants from various Mar Thoma Churches in North America attended the conference.

The first Youth Chaplains’ workshop of the Diocese was inaugurated at Immanuel Mar Thoma Church, Houston on 7th July, 2009. And the rest of the sessions were held at trinity till the afternoon of July 8, 2009. Evening worship was led by Rev. Jaisen A. Thomas and Rev. Biju P. Simon and devotion led by Rev. Varghese Mathew, Youth Chaplain, Chicago.

Mar Theodosius met with the LEAD program convenor Ms. Betty Vattakunnel and discuss the need to evaluate the program Phase I. The possibility of creating the CDs for power point presentation was discussed. The Diocesan Episcopa suggested that LEAD program should consider organizing training program for the volunteers interested in mission work,

The Clergy Conference of the Delhi and Mumbai Dioceses was held from 4^th to 7^th March 2008 at Sihora Christa Panthi Ashram. The Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas and Rev. Dr. K. G. Pothen were the main leaders of the Conference. The theme of the Conference was “Liturgical Practices and Faith formation in our time”. 87 Achens from the two Dioceses participated in this conference.
