The Diocesan Council had its first meeting for 2012 on Saturday, January 21 at the Christos Mar Thoma Church, Philadelphia. The meeting considered the Annual Accounts of 2011 and reviewed the activities of the Sub-committee and evaluated the progress of the regional committees on the various Development programmes of the Diocese.

Throughout the past years, our Diocese has experienced significant demographical and generational growth representing a new dynamic for relevant contextual ministries. As such, the linguistic need of the younger generation to creatively discern the ministry of the Word is essential for spiritual sustenance and renewal of the community. Towards that end, under the guidance of the Youth Chaplain, Rev. Jaisen A. Thomas “New Year Revival 2012”, a three-day English Convention and several workshops were conducted and coordinated by the youth and young families of the Dallas, Texas area Mar Thoma Churches on December 30, 2011 – January 1, 2012.

A felicitation and fellowship prayer meeting in Honor of Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, The Bishop of the Diocese of North America and Europe of the Mar Thoma was held on Friday December 9^th 2011 at the Sinai Mar Thoma center New York. The meeting was held at the occasion of the 22^nd anniversary of Thirumeni's Episcopal Consecration.

The 20^th annual APDM retreat was held on October 14-16, 2011 at the Ocean Plaza in ocean Grove, NJ. The retreat was attended by APDM families and the conference theme was “I know the plans, I have for you” (Jeremiah 29: 11). The retreat was inaugurated by the Diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius on Friday, October 14 at 6 pm. He focused on following the will of God and submitting to Him completely who works out everything for the good of those who believe in him.

Installation of Rev. Kathryn Lohre – New President for NCCC USA

The Governing Board of the NCCC met on November 9, 2011 to install the new President Rev. Kathryn Lahore for the term 2012-2013, a member of the Ecumenical Lutheran Church in America. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius represented the Mar Thoma Church in the meeting. The Governing Board met in ELCA central office in Chicago at 9 am and the installation of the new NCC officers took place at the Lutheran Center Chapel at 11. 15 a.m.

Rev. Dn. Dennis Abraham was ordained as a Kasseessa of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar on Friday, July 8, 2011. In preparation for the ordination, there was a devotion session, held in the evening prior to the ordination, at the Sinai Mar Thoma Center, Merrick, NY. The devotion session was led by our Diocesan Episcopa, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa, along with the Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa of Adoor and Malaysia-Australia-Singapore Diocese.

National Clergy Family Conference, North America

The National Clergy Family conference of Achens in North America was held at the Trinity Mar Thoma Church, Edmonton, Canada on 3^rd and 4^th July 2011. Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, the Diocesan Episcopa; Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas Episcopa, and all Achens and family from North America attended the Conference. The theme of the Conference “Relevant ministry in the Digital World” was introduced by the Diocesan Episcopa.

May 7, 2011 has become a historical day in the Mar Thoma Church, as the church is celebrating the 175^th year of the reformation in the Malankara Church. By the grace of God and by the prayers of so many at large, the Consecration service of Rev. Dr. Varghese Mathai, Rev. K. V. Varkey and Rev. Dr. Oommen George went smoothly and the event turned out to be a blessing to the whole Church. It was a 3 Hour long service which went uninterrupted and led by all the bishops of the church and the two Metropolitans from the Thozhiyoor Church. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Episcopa of the Diocese of North – America and Europe was the chief celebrant. Our Metropolitan Tirumani gave the sermon.

New purchase for the diocese

The long cherished dream of the Diocese in purchasing its adjacent land and property has come true on 26^th April 2011. Let's praise and thank God for this historic event. The Diocesan Assembly which was held in 2010 took the decision to purchase the property at 2000 Carmen court, Merrick, NY 11566 and the Diocesan council earnestly worked to make it a reality. The closing was held on Tuesday 26^th April 2011 at the Chase Bank, Merrick Avenue, Long Island, New York.
