The Annual Clergy Conference of the North – America, Europe, UK Diocese of the Mar Thoma Church was held at the St. Paul’s Mar Thoma Church, Dallas from 4th to 6th July 2010. The main theme of the conference was “Ministry in a Technocratic world”. 46 Achens and families from various parts of the Diocese attended the Conference. The Diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Tirumeni attended the Conference and presided over it. The meeting started with Dinner. The opening worship was led by the Achens from the Houston area.

WHERE AS, to have effective co-ordination between Diocese of North America & Europe of the Mar Thoma Church and the parishes/congregations in Europe Centre of the Diocese of North America and Europe of the Mar Thoma Church, the Diocesan Assembly do hereby constitute a Sub- Committee namely ‘Council of Mar Thoma Parishes in Europe’, herein after termed as ‘COMPE’ under Clause 217 of the Sabha Constitution, and approve the following guidelines for its effective administration.

A meeting of the Diocesan Council was held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Trinity Mar Thoma Church, Houston, TX. The meeting began at 5:00 pm and was presided by the Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Memorial Day, which is the day set apart to honor the men and women who died while serving in the American military, always falls on the last Monday of May. Originally known as Decoration Day, began years after the Civil War. Americans observe “Memorial Day” by visiting cemeteries or memorials and holding family gatherings as well as participating in parades. Today, we have gathered in this august meeting of our Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of North America and Europe here at Atlanta MTC. We have come here representing the various parishes in Europe, Canada, and United States of America. As clergy and laity, we are now in the presence of God who blesses us and strengthens us for the ministry. The Holy Bible reminds us in Psalms 95:7 that, “… For He is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the people under his care.”

First Official Visit of the Mar Thoma Metropolitan to the United Kingdom and the Dedication of
Sinai Mar Thoma Church North London at St. George’s Church, Headstone.

The dedication and thanksgiving service of the 8th Mar Thoma Parish in the United Kingdom took place at St. George’s Church, Headstone on 18th April 2010 in the presence of The Most Revd Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan, The Rt. Revd Dr. Juhanon Fenwick of the Free Church of England and many visiting clergy from the Mar Thoma Church, Church of England, and other sister Churches.

The meeting of the Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of North America & Europe was held on April 17, 2010 at the Atlanta Mar Thoma Church, 755 Rays Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30083. The Diocesan Episcopa, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius chaired the meeting, which began at 9:00 AM.
Rev. Binu Varghese, Seattle MTC, led the opening worship along with Mrs. Aswathi Mathew and Mr. Thomas Abraham. The Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, introduced and welcomed Rev. Dr. Michael Kinnamon, the General Secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ USA.

The meeting of the Diocesan Council was held at 4:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Atlanta Mar Thoma Church and presided by Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Diocesan Episcopa. The meeting began with a song followed by a prayer by Theodosius Thirumeni.

Celebration of the2010 World Day of Prayer – Detroit Mar Thoma Church

The World Day of Prayer Worship Service was hosted by the Detroit Mar Thoma Church on March 6, 2010. This ecumenical celebration took place at the Detroit Mar Thoma Church along with members of the clergy and delegates from the ten sister churches in the area. The service began promptly at 2:00 p.m with opening prayer presented by Rev. Koshy Chirakkarottu, the President of the Detroit Ecumenical Committee. Immediately after the opening prayer, approximately 90 delegates, representing the worship team joined the procession. As the delegates processed, the youth and the children’s choir led the opening hymn, “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”.

A meeting of the Diocesan Council was held on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Chicago Mar Thoma Church. The meeting began at 3:30 p.m. and was presided by the Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius. After a prayer, Mr. Ashley George (St. Peter’s MTC, New Jersey) led a brief devotion. During the meeting, the Diocesan Council members discussed many items, including the Mandalam study material on Christian Witness which is now available on the Diocesan website, liturgy seminars, Mexico Mission, and other organizational matters.

Release of the DVD on Holy Qurbana

Devanahalli Mission – 23rd Anniversary

The Devanahalli Mission of the Mar Thoma Church has celebrated its 23rd Anniversary on 29th August 2009 at the Mission Centre. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Diocesan Episcopa of the North American-Europe and UK Diocese was the chief guest. The anniversary celebrations started with Holy Qurbana by Thirumeni at 8.30 a. m. This was followed by a public meeting.
