Diocesan Council Meeting – Saturday, June 12, 2010

A meeting of the Diocesan Council was held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Trinity Mar Thoma Church, Houston, TX. The meeting began at 5:00 pm and was presided by the Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius. After a hymn and prayer, Theodosius Thirumeni began the meeting with the devotion and presidential address. During his message, Thirumeni highlighted the recently conducted Diocesan Assembly meeting, the church’s selection process of three more bishops, the 100^th Students Conference and the participation by a team from our Diocese, the Metropolitan’s 80^th birthday, and eight upcoming conferences in the Diocese between June to October 2010. During the meeting, the Diocesan Council members discussed plans to implement and execute the decisions taken by the 2010 Diocesan Assembly and approved by the Episcopal Synod. The members also discussed updates in the Mexico Mission, Family Conference 2010 and 2011, the planned Institute of Liturgical Studies in October 2010, and many other topics. During a break in the meeting, the Diocesan Council members joined Theodosius Thirumeni along with Rev. Zachariah John, Vicar of Trinity Mar Thoma Church, and members of Trinity MTC to celebrate Environment Sunday by planting a tree on the premises of Trinity MTC. The meeting was closed with prayer and benediction by Theodosius Thirumeni.
