Ecumenical Reception by the Massachusetts Council of Churches

The Commission on Christian Unity of the Massachusetts Council of Churches arranged a luncheon reception for Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, the Diocesan Bishop of Mar Thoma Diocese of North America & Europe, co-hosted by Suffragan Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Boston at the Diocesan Office on Boston Common. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Gayle Harris presided over the function. It was attended by leaders of different churches responsible for ecumenical relations.

Mar Theodosius visited the Boston University on May 3, 2010 and met the Dean Rev. Dr. Mary Elizabeth Moore.

Dr. Moore’s route to the Dean’s office at the school of Theology in Jan 2009 is very different from those of her 14 male predecessors. She has reputation as a scholar of Eco feminist Theology, spirituality and sacramental teaching. Formerly she was the Director of the women in Theology and Ministry program At Emory. She also held positions at the Claremont School of Theology.

On January 1, 2010, over 260 people from various Christian denominations joined together at 6:00 p.m. at the Cotillion Restaurant in Jericho, New York to participate in an Ecumenical Fellowship Dinner organized by the Diocesan Council in honor of Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, who has completed 20 years of Episcopal ministry.

2009 General Assembly of the National Council of Churches

The annual General Assembly of the National Council of Churches of Christ USA and Church World Service was conducted from November 10 - 12, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel-Park Place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a member of these organizations, the Mar Thoma Church joined 27 other member communions for a wonderful time of ecumenical dialogue.

The Canadian Council of Churches has just reviewed our application of the Diocese of North America & Europe of the Mar Thoma Church. The following motion was made.

"Subject to the provisions in Article 5 section 2 of the Canadian Council of Churches, the Mar Thoma Church be admitted to membership of the Canadian Council of Churches."

Episcopal Visit to Anglican Diocese of Calgary

Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Diocesan Bishop of North America and Europe of the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar met Rt. Rev. Dr. Derek Hoskin, Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Calgary during his recent visit to Alberta. The purpose of the meeting was to promote inter-church activities under the auspices of the agreement for full intercommunion between the two churches.
