Ecumenical Fellowship Dinner: 2012

The Diocese of North America and Europe of the Mar Thoma Church organized an ecumenical Fellowship Dinner with the help of the Mar Thoma Parishes in the South East Region. This was held at the Radisson Hotel, Philadelphia, Northeast on the evening of Friday, January 20, 2012. There were about 290 participants including the Bishops, Clergy and Lay members of various Church denominations. This Ecumenical gathering, the third of its kind, was more appropriate and meaningful as it was held on the Week of prayer for Christian Unity.

A meeting of the Governing Board of the Canadian Council of Churches met at the Queen of Apostles Renewal Centre, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada from Nov. 23^rd – 25^th, 2011. The centre is situated on twelve acres of property overlooking the Credit River in Mississauga.

The centenary celebration of the St. Georges Parish in North Harrow was an occasion for the Mar Thoma community worshiping to join for a combined celebration of Holy Communion with the members of the St. George's Anglican Church. The Anglican Diocesan Bishop, Peter Wheately, celebrated the Eucharist using the Mar Thoma Kaumaat the beginning of the Anglican liturgy.

On July 5, 2011, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius and Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas attended a Ronning Centre Consultation meeting as chief guests organized by the Chester Ronning Centre for the Study of Public Life and Religion, University of Alberta, Canada. Rev. Reji John, Vicar, Trinity Mar Thoma Church (Edmonton) along with Dr. Varghese Manaloor and Mr. David Goa (professors at the University of Alberta) facilitated the event. The ecumenical meeting held at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Edmonton was attended by almost 35 people that included Christian leaders and members of various local churches and organizations.

On January 20, 2011, the National Council of Churches of Christ (NCCC) in USA visited the Mar Thoma Church as a part of their annual “Church To Church” visit program. This event was held at the Long Island Mar Thoma Church in Merrick, New York. Our Diocesan Episcopa, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius took the initiative to ensure that all the arrangements were well organized. The meeting was a blessed time of fellowship with our Ecumenical partners.

On January 1, 2010, over 260 people from various Christian denominations joined together at 6:00 p.m. at the Cotillion Restaurant in Jericho, New York to participate in an Ecumenical Fellowship Dinner organized by the Diocesan Council in honor of Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, who has completed 20 years of Episcopal ministry.

2009 General Assembly of the National Council of Churches

The annual General Assembly of the National Council of Churches of Christ USA and Church World Service was conducted from November 10 - 12, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel-Park Place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a member of these organizations, the Mar Thoma Church joined 27 other member communions for a wonderful time of ecumenical dialogue.

Dr. Derek Hoskin, Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Calgary during his recent visit to Alberta. The purpose of the meeting was to promote inter-church activities under the auspices of the agreement for full intercommunion between the two churches.
