Episcopal Visit – Sunday July 10, 2011
We, the members of Salem Mar Thoma church were very honored and privileged by the visit of our Diocesan Episcopa Rt. Rev. Dr. Greevarghese Mar Theodosious on Sunday July 10, 2011 during the celebration of Graduates' Appreciation Day and the final day of VBS.
Thirumeni celebrated the Holy Communion service along with the parish vicar Rev. Varghese Mathai. During the service, a special thanksgiving and recognition service was conducted by Thirumeni for the eleven graduates of our parish. This included the graduates from high school, college and other higher academic level programs. The parish appreciated the graduates in their great achievement and wished them all the success in their future career paths. Gifts from the parish were also presented to the graduates by Thirumeni.
Thirumeni also attended the final day program of the VBS, which, was conducted immediately after the Holy Communion service. During his address to the children, Thirumeni encouraged them to follow God's paths based on the VBS theme “inside out upside down on main street where Jesus makes a difference every day” (Psalms 25:4). The vicar Rev. Varghese Mathai presided over the meeting and the VBS students and teachers performed various programs.
Our children and many parents had a wonderful time at the VBS. We had one of the most successful VBS this year with 55 students and 29 teachers / volunteers.
Thirumeni also spend some time with the Kaisthana samithy members and discussed about the future developments of the Parish. We express our sincere thanks to Thirumeni.
Rev. Varghese Mathai.
