As we enter into 2012 I wish you all a happy and blessed New Year. The celebration of Christmas reminded us of the fact that God is with us always. It has become the practice of so many worshiping communities to gather together for a time of retreat and worship as we enter into the threshold of a new year. For so many people New Year is a time to take promises which they intend to keep through the days of New Year in their life.

The summer of 2011 was quite eventful. The Mar Thoma Church has been gifted with three new Bishops, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios, Rt. Rev. Gregorios Mar Stephanos, and Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Tithos. The Malankara Churchcelebrated its 175th Anniversary of the Reformation event of 1836. The Diocese of North America and Europe had arenewing and refreshing experience through various Conferences, Institutes and Convention gatherings.

We are publishing this October issue of the Mar Thoma Messenger after a series of conferences in our Diocese since the first week of July 2010. There will be a few more conferences in the month of October. The Family Conference 2011 will be at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. What are these conferences for? These are not simply celebrations, but occasions where members of the Church come together to sit at the feet of Jesus, to be spiritually nourished and renewed in life.
